I am leaving my husband for the weekend. He will be very very lonely and sad. He will also waste away with nothing to eat in the house other than rice crispy treats and fruit snacks. Poor Jeff.

The Luxe Series

If you know anything about me, you know that I love to read. I'll read just about anything, but one of my favorite genres is young adult/teen fiction. I know, I know. It's like a guilty pleasure. Anyway, my most recent journey into this genre has been The Luxe Series. The series is set in New York City in 1899. It follows several teen girls of various social status and explores how complicated and intertwined their lives are. From lavish balls and Florida vacations to secret midnight meetings and backstabbing best friends, things are never quite as they appear to be in this series. Each chapter begins with a newspaper clipping, a note from one character to another, or an exerpt from a book on ettiquette of the time. I have read all three books and cannot wait for the fourth and final book to be published in October (the 27th - my birthday!). If anyone knows of another good young adult series that can satisfy my addiction while I anxiously await for October, please let me know!!

PS - I would definitely not recommend this series for any of my fourth graders. Not for several years even. The books are very tateful, but they do get a little racy as the series progresses.

Coming (Back) to America

I cannot wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day that my sister will start being just a phone call away again. For the past two weeks, my sister and my dad have been serving the Lord in Africa. I am so proud of both of them. Even though I don't get to see my sister as much as I would like, I do talk to her on the phone almost everyday, and sometimes more than once or twice a day! Not being able to call or text her these past two weeks have been killing me! Even though nothing at all exciting has happened to tell her, I still feel like she has missed so much. I know exciting things have been happening in her life and I cannot wait to hear all about them when she gets back. Hurry home, guys!

My Blog...

So recently I have become obsessed with blogs. Really. I check GoogleReader at least three times a day. It all started when my pregnant friends started blogs. Before then, I could have cared less about them (The blogs, not my friends - I always cared about them.). Now, I subscribe to all kinds of blogs that could potentially affect my life - everything from recipes and couponing to teaching to parenthood. Seriously - it's an addiction.

So after many months of reading the blogs of others, I have decided to start my own. I really feel that my life is in no way interesting enough to sustain a blog, but have decided that I don't care. Two good friends of mine told me to just blog as though no one was ever going to read it. So that is exactly what I am going to do. I hope my blog will be helpful or at least entertaining to someone somewhere. And if it is not? No apology here. I'm just blogging like no one will ever read it...
